lol wow, first time i hear of someone hating target and preferring walmart outside of the MN Forward debacle.

I have hosted a number of first-time visitors to Mpls and by far the main observation has been how friendly and talkative everyone here is, and how they actually have something interesting or funny to say rather than just the benign pleasantries you might hear in the South, and when they ask you a question, they might actually want to hear the answer.

Also I have heard comment that there are a surprising amount of neon signs, and of major corporations that they did not know were from here (not just Target).

My personal observation that is still very funny to me is how almost no one will cross the street without the walk signal even when there are no cars coming anywhere.
But maybe if a few people do it, then they all will follow, even if now there are cars coming at them! lol

I dunno about this. Nicollet Mall is filled with people crossing everywhere, including across the cross streets. Sometimes people will cross right in front of traffic? I certainly did it after I'd get off work in the past (last year I worked at the downtown Target) late as I wanted to catch the earliest bus after 10pm Otherwise it could be quite a wait, especially in the cold!
