I am looking for a good master planned community on lake minnetonka or surrounding area plymouth, medina, maple grove. We are looking for a good community with young families with small children. I would prefer to be on lake minnetonka but not sure if there is any good developments that fit our criteria. We did look at locust hills but that was more empty nesters with no small children. Let me know if there is any good master planned communities in the area. Thanks

There are not any Master Planned communities on Lake Minnetonka. There was never enough room to build something like that. Does your budget support living on Lake Minnetonka--entry level home there are $1,000,000 or more for single family.

Arbor Lakes area in Maple Grove would be one to check out. I'm sure there is something near a lake or on a lake around there.

A lot of those $700K houses are tear downs for the lots. There were some moratoriums for a while doing that but I don't know if they are still in place. The Wayzata area is not a "young" area and you won't find neighborhoods filled with kids like you would in other areas but that doesn't mean there won't be some kids.

Bumping my old post we would like to rebuild somewhere in the Maple Grove, Plymouth area that has at least .60-1 acre lot in a pool community with club house etc..something with a good community feel to it. We need a little bigger lot to build a bigger home and outdoor area. I looked around yesterday a bit and most of the lots are really tiny and small developments 10-20 homes.

Is there anything that is a nice master planned community even if it isn't in those areas. Bear Path in Eden prairie looks really nice but they have no open lots left but we basically want something similar.

I'd check out North Oaks. It's a master-planned community with private roads and large, wooded lots. VERY nice golf course, tennis club, beach, recreational paths and plenty of lakes. Good school district. No crime to speak of.

The lot size in North Oaks is generally larger than 1 acre, though. 1.5-3 acres is more common. I wouldn't call it a "pool community" but if you want indoor and outdoor pools it is a hop away from an Onyx-level Lifetime Athletic club -- and the only one in the Lifetime chain that has salt water pools and hot tubs. The North Oaks Beach is a nice private beach to go swimming.

There's also some history there; North Oaks was also once home to James J. Hill's summer residence and personal farm.

Here's the City-Data profile of the city: https://www.city-data.com/city/North-Oaks-Minnesota.html

Maple Grove, Plymouth or Medina all have higher end new developments.

Maple Grove developments include -

Whistling Pines
Maple Brook
Cedar Crest

Plymouth -

Taylor Creek
O'Donnell Woods
Rusten Woods

Medina -

Medina Meadows
Bridgewater

Hope that helps
