Is it just me or is Nicollet mall a pain to walk thru most the time (a few times it isn't...)? There seems to be decline.

It's kind of annoying. That city target is a magnet for all sorts of people.

Is this an argument to the other thread that want birch trees and more curves to improve the area?

Sorry Minnesotans. I want the best for the place I grew up. Make things business friendly and the consumers will follow. Setting guidelines for business kills innovation.

Oh, and keep the riff raff at bay. The suburban girls from Woodbury, Apple Valley or Blaine wont be happy if they are bothered at Starbucks/Caribou/Petes by panhandlers and street hustlers.

Minneapolis has very few panhandlers compared to many other cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, Baltimore, etc. Milwaukee even has more. Not even remotely comparable. It is still something to be concerned about going forward, but many U.S. cities would LOVE to have Minneapolis' relatively low panhandler population.

I used to work in a building on Nicollet Mall, and I only thought it was hard to walk down during the Farmer's Market days with all of the stands set up along it. And maybe during Holidazzle too with all of the people lined up before the parade. Otherwise it was fine.

The atmosphere is unsavory and it isn't the décor.
