I think the Southwest Corridor light rail would help ease congestion between the southwest suburbs and downtown if and when it is built. I'm beginning to question whether it will ever get done at this point with the MN GOP's continued resistance along with all the other legal barriers that seem to arise during every stage of the planning process.

I think there needs to be at least 4 general purpose lanes in both directions on I-494, before a MN-Pass lane is added. I'm okay with that lane being the 5th lane, but not excited for it to be the solution to congestion on I-494. As much as I am a proponent of sustainability and carpooling, I'd rather see that type of investment made on freeways that aren't as clogged as I-494 is (or 62, for that matter).

Hmm, sounds like 62 is just an awful road. I was hoping someone would tell me it's a back up because of construction somewhere else, but no such luck. Traffic was a breeze last Friday though, everyone must have left early for Labor Day!

Sometimes my navigation takes me on 494, and I stayed in a hotel in the area for a few days and saw that highway is also more like a parking lot than a road. Seems like I need to live close to work, or north/south of it. I've been looking in Bloomington/Burnsville/Eagan, but the rent there isn't enough of a difference to be worth a commute, which is so odd to me. I've live in other areas of the country where a 40 minute commute saves you a few hundred in rent, and it seems like here it saves $100 or so. Big deal! I'm probably just going to pay an arm and a leg and just live in Minneapolis.

Well the other side of that is that you'll be paying an arm and a leg to rent anywhere, period, soooo.......
