Let's talk about your boondoggle STADIUM and my tax dollars . . .

And as a former resident of the Arrowhead I can say factually that the northern MN roads are clogged with idiots from the Metro gawping at "nature" from the safety of their speeding air conditioned gas guzzlers as they try to push the locals off the roads.

Fork over the dough, urbanites.

Ah, the raging entitlement...

At least you've abandoned your bogus assertion that there's some sort of net outflow of cash from Northern Minnesota to the Metro. Baby steps.

PS - Instead of whining about tourists in Northern Minnesota, why don't you stop electing officials that spend gobs of money luring non-Northern Minnesotans to come to Northern Minnesota? On second thought, don't do that - without that tourism cash, it'd take even more metro largesse to keep your local jurisdictions solvent. Whine away!

About 80 percent of Cook County’s economy is based on tourism—the highest percentage of any county in Minnesota.

Visit Cook County now has a $1.8 million budget to promote the county. The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s resort and casino also contributes funding, though it’s not subject to the lodging tax.

Working with Duluth marketing agency Giant Voices and Twin Cities public relations firm Lin PR, Visit Cook County focused its marketing efforts this year on the Twin Cities metro area and Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Tourism is "paying for the investment that's been happening in our community," said Duluth Chamber of Commerce President David Ross, "with the hotels and the brew houses and all of these wonderful attractions that we as citizens of Duluth enjoy while the tab is being picked up by visitors."

PPS - I don't live in the metro. But I do live in a county that sends more money to St. Paul than it receives in return (unlike Northern Minnesota). But as I've said before, I don't have a problem with this - though I do have a problem with people who falsely deny it, especially those who go so far as to claim the opposite.

Vote for me, and I'll build a wall around the Metro Area.

It will be UUUGE wall!

It will be a BEAUTIFUL wall!

And, best of all, I'll make the Metro Area pay for it!
