Your insistence that statewide crime rates are meaningless?....meaningless.

Obviously a state's crime rate is meaningful.

Furthermore, from the article about 2016 crime rates in Minneapolis:

"The city recorded 2,274 aggravated assaults — a crime category that includes shootings and is considered a key measure of how safe a city is — up from 2,051 the previous year. The number of homicides fell from 50 to 37 during the same period. Robberies also declined, but rapes and sexual assaults jumped more than 6 percent."

Therefore, ordered by greatest to least percentage of change:

Homicide: 26% drop
Agg Assault: 11% rise
Robberies: drop
Rapes: 6% rise

Hardly a clear-cut 'rise' in crime, more of a muddied picture which shows a slight increase in crime...which is still considerably lower than the 90's.

People from TN used to say their state crime rate would take a huge drop if only Mississippi annexed Memphis.

People in Minnesota could say the same if only Wisconsin annexed everything from Minneapolis city limits to Wisconsin.

A state crime rate is as worthless as the average yearly temp of the state of Minnesota.
