That's probably true but say if Cubs fans (or White Sox) fans wanted to see their team on the road and drive? Actually the Bears are probably a better example. There's at least 4 other NFL markets within a 300 mile drive, Cincinnati is probably just over 300 but still.

Less than 300 for any other fans besides Vikings fans? Nothing. Green Bay is 280ish from The Twin Cities but that's it.

As an outsider who has spent time in the region, I dont see your reputation as damaged.

Unfortunately, high crime is not specific to one region. The only areas that are really highlighted for their high crime are those that have problems that are out of control per capita (St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans, etc.) or places whose sheer number of crimes is unavoidable (Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.). MSP doesnt really fall into those categories.

As far as George Floyd is concerned, I dont think it really brought attention to anything that hasnt been going on for many years. America is a very race conscious place and not all cops are good. I dont think MSP will be scapegoated for it. I dont think MSP has the reputation of Portland where its viewed as a giant looney bin where the far left and far right go at each other all the time.

It's true we are not close to many other major metro areas. However, we do have a hub airport which is a huge benefit. Yes, Delta is the dominant carrier and we see that power exercised, but we do get the fortune of direct flights around the world. That makes everything a little "closer."
