I'm a Georgia native who has been in the Twin Cities for 6 years. I still haven't met anyone here who is a Southerner! Is there anyone out there from the South?

I think this is a beautiful area; but it has been incredibly difficult to make friends with Minnesotans. Does anyone feel this way?

Not me, sadly, but I've done the reverse (native Minnesotan who has been in the Atlanta metro now for almost four years).

Where in Georgia did you move from?

Sorry, I'm a bit off-topic here, but why do you find it hard to make friends with Minnesotans? Lack of common interest, or are we just snobby

I've been to Charlotte a few times for work and from what I have seen, I love it. Maybe in a few years I will relocate.

Now that you mention it, Minnesotans seem kind of "gruff" or something's wrong with them. I don't know how to describe it. They are nice but..

Are you talking about rural Minnesotans (which I might agree with), Twin Cities residents, or what? There is no generic "Minnesotan".

MInneapolitians, some are really nice and some are not. Obviously. The Minneapolitians I have met were nice, but they told it like it was.

I didn't deal much with folks inside the Minneapolis city limits. My 40+ years up there were spend in the burbs almost exclusively.

My wife is from Flordia. Moved to Minnesota for a job. Met her, fell in love with her, married her. I also have a good male friend that came up from Alabama 15 years ago.

In my office (10 people) there are 3 people from Texas, 1 from Mississippi, and 1 from Arkansas. My friend here (in Minneapolis) has also been dating a girl from Atlanta for a couple months (are you her?). I see plenty of license plates from the south as well. Maybe you should try getting out more.

I lived in Charlotte for a short time. I liked it's location and the weather was descent. I found it to be far too boring however. Its local music scene was awful and the people acted as though Charlotte was the only city in the US experiencing growth. It was quite funny.
