Lots of places seem to have "cheap date nights" or "recession specials" these days. Just keep your eyes open. For example, the Red Stag Supperclub in NE has "cheap date night" on Tuesdays from 5-10pm. For $32/couple, you get a bottle of wine, two entrees and dessert. That's probably still a little spendy for your budget, but just thought I'd put the idea out there.

Or perhaps try a place like Kafe 421 in Dinkytown. On Tuesdays and Sundays for $25/couple, you get a 3 course meal and probably even a discount on top of that if you bring your student ID.

A good way to tell if she's a keeper or not is to drop the buffet question on her. Haha, no but I totally agree. Buffets rule.

Right now through November 1st I believe, from 4-close TGI Fridays have buy any drink (alcoholic OR non-alocholic and you have to be sitting in the bar area) and get an appetizer for free! That's a HELLUVA deal! I'm about to take advantage of that one tomorrow night!

Also, at Houlihan's every wednesday night is 1/2 price bottle of wine. that's a sweet deal too.

Exactly. If she makes some excuse like "oh buffets have germs from people touching the the utensils or sneezing etc"... dump her. I just wash my hands after loading up my plate and then it is CHOW TIME!!.

Seriously. High maintenance people are a drag and definitely not worth it. Especially during these times of recession / depression.

Yup, love the buffet at Cleveland Wok! Also another really good buffet is down the hill of Highland Park in Sibley Plaza on West 7th.
