My fiance and I are going to Minneapolis for a weekend getaway. We're not familiar with the restaurants and we're looking for an upscale restaurant where we can get all dressed up and go out to eat. Any suggestions?

Goodfellows in Minneapolis, Forepaugh's in St. Paul, Melting Pot in Mlps, Mortin's Steakhouse in Mlps (or is it Manny's--I can't remember).

Is Palomin's still open? Also, there's a swanky seafood restaurant in downtown: Oceanaire at the Hyatt Regency.

Unless something has changed lately, Goodfellows closed down about a year or two ago. There is both a Morton's and a Manny's in Mlps, though I am not sure I would suggest either for a "get dressed up and go out to dinner" experience.

Consider D'Amico Cucina (the actual restaurant, not the deli obviously), Oceanaire, the Capital Grille in Mlps.

Upscale -

Best French in the Cities: Vincent - A Restaurant (my favorite) - make reservations. One word: Tripe. You'll thank me...

Best Italian in the Cities: I Nonni in Mendota Heights - make reservations, order the tasting menu, relax and let them feed you...
