We are starting to look into RV's (ing) and are on the fence and mulling over pros and cons of class A and 5th wheels.
Looking for relative feedback to assist in the decision.
Class A seems the the way to go but then you have to tow a vehicle for the quick runs when you are there. 5th wheels have the vehicle but there is the initial reason for looking into this other than the family time - allowing the 3 kids to be able to move around a little bit while traveling.
Cost appears to be relativly close unless you go full luxury, that is out of our reach anyways.
Then there is the cost of diesel that so far no one can convince me why the cost is higher when it is easier to produce (yes it does stink more), you get better gas mileage and it emits less "green house" gases. But that's a whole different discussion in itself.
Opinion or personnel experience?
Thanks

I traveled by bus for months, some years back, and enjoyed it at the time, but wouldn't take on such a project nowadays. RV's are expensive to own and operate, and the mechanical parts are too heavy to lift yourself when you need to do maintenance. They don't do well on snow and ice, and the risk of accident goes up directly with the number of miles you drive (particularly dangerous if you've got a car in tow). You're sitting up right over the front wheels, like an Aztec sacrifice, and you'll be breathing exhaust fumes as long as you're on the road. The life doesn't appeal to me anymore, but, as they say, YMMV.

Do you have some place in particular you want to go, or are you on a journey of serendipity and discovery?

Not so much serendipity but still a journey with the kids. It is mostly intended as a reason, if needed to get away a weekend a month or so just up to the north shore. An out west trip is in mind now and then and as stated more room for the kids if they have to "go" or elbowroom. We are looking at class C and B+ but the B+ seems less functional for a family of 5.
When you said bus did you mean personal or Tour bus style. And if Tour, were you the driver.
Just curious.
Thanks for the feedback.

I think you'd have a lot better chance to get solid answers at a place like this - RV.Net RV and Camping Forum ? RV, Trailer, Camper, Motorhome, Camping and Campground Information
