The Mora City Council along with City Adminstrator Joel Dhein have refused to sign off on a new renewable energy project being planned by East Central Solid Waste Commision and Southern Minnesota Municipal Power. The plan was for SMMPA to install an 1.6 Mw generator at the landfill near Mora and use Methane produced from the landfill as it's fuel source. The project had Zero cost to Mora and would in fact have increased their system reliability by provideing another power supply. SMMPA had already spent 100k dollars develpoeing the project plus uncounted man hours. So much for getting on board withGovernor Palentys Renewable energy program
