involved with woman for three years and things have changed (rated, rain)

My story is a long one. First of all, i am separated and soon to be divorced from my wife. We have had a long very strained and bad relationship. She has caused many problems, due to dishonesty, substance abuse, and unfaithfullness. I have bascially put up with it for many years due to our children. Life has become miserable and i had turned to drinking to escape the sad reality. Then I reconnected with someone from my past. She is in a similar marriage, but she told me from the beginning that her situation would not change. for the first 2 years that we have seen each other, we were very close and became intimate. it seemed that we had found each other and kept each other going. since January of this past year, things have changed slowly and now its to the point that every thing we had built with each other she has slowly taken away. Its to the point now that i feel that i am only a friend to her to listen and help her through her problems. I am very much in love with her, but she will no longer tell me how she feels and is very distant. I am struggling with what to do. I feel I am in a worse situation than ever before. We had been seeing each other consitantly, now she is distancing herself, and i am basically at her becon call to hear her problems, but not be with her. this is killing me. I dont know where to go from here but to be alone, is that such a bad thing?
