Hi everyone,

I need a Missouri identification card. I'm from Ohio and I'm not moving to Missouri, but just need an ID. I assumed I could just have some of my bills sent to a friend's address and use that as my proof.

Someone told me that if I get an identification card in Missouri, they will contact Ohio to notify them of my new residency. I know this would be true if I changed my car registration and driver license, but does anyone know if this is true for just an identification card?

My roommate in college was from out-of-state and he went to the Ohio BMV and got an Ohio identification card in order to buy alcohol. He had no issues with his home state (Virginia).

I don't get it. Why do you need a MO ID if you don't live here?

Get your state ID from the state in which you have your legal permanent residence. If your legal residence is in Ohio then you should get an Ohio ID, not Missouri. You would be commiting fraud to get a Missouri ID and not be a resident. The state used for filing your federal tax returns and that where you have your voter registration is considered your legal residence.
