Interesting posts! Thanks!...I can relate to wanting to "close the gates" to "some" but not to others here in AZ...But in the end the "gates" swung open "wide" and we were "invaded" by people from So CA who moved to AZ (and neighboring states) during the "housing boom and bubble."...CA residents sold their homes for "big bucks" and bought similiar homes in neighboring states for very reasonable prices and "pocketed" the rest of their "profits."...Anyway this area has become what I tried to "leave behind" when I moved out of So CA in the early 90's. And there's not much I can do about it except plan my "next move." Hopefully my new area won't be "targeted" for "rapid development" right off the bat!...Guess this is the "drawback" of living in a "free country." We can't really "close" or "lock-up" the "gates." And keep certain people "out!" We're a big "melting pot." ....Oh well! Hopefully I'll be able to live a "down-home life" in my next area for a few years before the "invasions" start-up and gain momentum and the "gates" swing "wide-open" to anyone and everyone who wants to "move-in!"

Some other rumors of show-me i think date back to the civil war. Since Missouri was a neighbor-against-neighbor type state in the Civil War, to prove to one soldier you were on the same side, you had to "Show Me." Idk...that's probably one of the less true ones...i think that one politician's idea of show-me attests to the diversity you find in the northern vs. the southern parts of the state.

Maybe I'm not meeting the right women...
Thats cuz we MO women have been fending off IL boys since the whole place was French.
