I always thought that guy got some $$$ from the insurance companies, I know a few people that dashed out and bought earthquake insurance because of that kook. My boss did and after the predicted day came and went he said " iben suckered."

Sure remember that name. I'll never forget fall of '90. I was in high school and worried about what might happen in Kuwait/Iraq... If we end up going to war, would there be a draft like Vietnam since I was quickly approaching that age and remember the relief when it was all over just a handful of months later.

I guess the adults at the time were thinking about insurance (like you mentioned) and I had my mind on Kuwait and the earthquake news was a bit of an afterthought for me.
