Makes me nervous, while I expect them to be better than the projections…. What if they are worse than expected?

Yeah watch it be like Mobile is at 185k population. I’m praying every city in the state looks better than what it is now

Yeah, you've always got to wonder. But there are 100,000 "extra" people, as shown in official numbers for the state, and they've got to be somewhere. I doubt that Mobile or any other city will be smaller than the estimates. Actually, Huntsville could either be larger or smaller than the estimates, given how volatile things are around here.

That would be absolutely heartbreaking, luckily that goes against the math and the trends I’ve seen in housing market so I cross my fingers that it’s atleast back to 195k

Mobile County Commission looks to approve an additional 62 lots for the Chapel Creek Subdivision

I think one of the reasons behind someone the previous city shrinkage is the lack of subdivisions like this within the city limits.

True, one could build a nice subdivision on the east side of Sollie Road in the city limits and it would sell just as well as one constructed on the west side. People are not looking for the invisible city limits and making decisions based on that. Most people honestly don't know the lines and think of the general area as all Mobile.

Unfortunately Mobile doesn't really have any land big enough for any new massive subdivisions.

I personally don't think its the reason why the census has Mobile shrinking. I think the Census believed Mobile was still suffering from the recession from just before the beginning of the 2020 census (in 2010). The Census didn't expect Mobile to recover from it at any point apparently when in reality Mobile was on its feet again in like 2012-2013 and has actually been growing the entire 2020 census time according to my calculations
