We are wanting to re-locate to Noxon and start a small cattle/swine operation. We have been looking at land for sale and researching the area. Plan is still about 3 years away. Any advise?

I don't think that Noxon is the place for that, it's all pretty closed in, steep and confined, maybe Trout Creek area or White Pine would be better suited for that.

Thank you Rickers. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thankfully we have plenty of time to decide where we will end up. Noxon and the surrounding area is beautiful, and I look forward to our "Montana Plan".

Eureka has a moderate amount of open area that might accommodate a hog farm and then the open areas of eastern Montana might do also. Then there is the valleys of S.W. Montana but it's a bit pricey down there as well as the Flathead Valley where you would surely run into local opposition to the operation due to water quality concerns , I am sure.

There happens to be a hog farm going in soon between Columbia Falls and Kalispell off 206... Not very pleased but I guess they have to raise them somewhere! Plus there's a hog/cow farm on Farm to Market Road in Kalispell that's been there for years with no problems.

I am surprised that the NIMBYs didn't try and put the kybosh on those. Every time I go up to the Flathead Valley I'm shocked. Someone up there better push for some open space reserves or the whole valley will be wall to wall condos faster than you can bait a hook !

Buildable meaning flat former farm-able land ? I think we should be building on the rocks and leaving the valley soil for future food production ! But what the heck do I know !
