If memory serves me correctly isnt that your full and correct designation??? Anyway you would be
suprised if you knew how much people cant pronounce the names of MT towns. Like: Heleana ( this one is usually reserved for complete outsiders) or Chateau as Chawtaw, by a radio announcer
This was acutally a local lady, Kevin pronounced like the name when it is really pronounced Keevin.
The sad part, you have local dj's so igornant about the state they dont even know how to say the
names of the town's correctly.
I am lucky to have great coworkers who are not shy to correct me. I listen to the Northern News Network for pronunciation also and then refer to my Montana state map hanging at the back door. When I moved to Oregon many years ago with my dh I had many new names to learn. Props to you on the Star Trek lingo. Sadly the only attribute she and I share is adaptability. Luckily Montana will never be assimilated.

Sure, Missoula's often mispronounced too. Of course, when I lived in central California for several years I had to learn the native pronunciations of Tuolume, San Joaquin, and their own St. Helena-different from ours.

Wibaux is an interesting town. I drove through there on my way back from visiting my brother in Baker. Another interesting town. It looked like a old time movie setting driving through there. We're returning back in April on our drive back to see my brother. This time I'm going to take a little time and stop in there instead of driving on through the town. I like small towns. I also enjoy eastern Montana!

I have connections to Wibaux as well... so I can't help but love the town. I will be the first however, to admit it won't be the most appealing place to an outsider. People are really friendly and accommodating though!

As far as pronunciations go, how about Havre? I know how to say it, but it still sounds weird when I do
