I doubt it, but you never know. Those places have been there for years. They are an eye sore. You wonder how they can pass rental inspections. Most likely, they are owned by one of the landlords that's had a stronghold over the students and city for years. But its amazing to see the number of landlords that have folded in the last ten years or so. They just can't compete with the slums they operated. In addition to the rest of Beechurst, another corridor I hope they improve is Brockway and Willey. There are some real crown jewel slums on those roads.

Chico said a few years ago that they do plan to eventually take out the bakery and develop that land, and the worst of the buildings are supposed to come down in a year or two too according to what the owner said last year.

As far as I know, and forgive me I've forgotten the name of the developer, most of the property from 4th to 5th street has been bought up by a local developer. I've forgotten his name, but used to work with him on projects on the supply side of things. I belive there will be at least 2 seperate apartment buildings along with a hotel. Everything is to be mixed commercial/residentual. I think all these were listed on one of the previous posts. Development is to start next year, possibly some this fall and winter. Mostly just waiting for leases to come up.

Joe Panico (Victory Holdings). He owns the Chestnut Hotel, Rock Top, and Big Whiskey. There was an article a couple of years ago about what he wanted to do. I had hoped work would have started by now, but assuming you're right, we might see something within a year.

edit - beat me to it
