No.

Use one borrower's income...only need to use that borrower's credit.
Use both borrower's income...use both borrower's credit.

What are your respective scores?

It was more of a in the future question...
His about 550 an mine 618 last I checked.

You should work on getting both of your scores up into the low to mid 600's.

How far into the future are you planning on purchasing? I would go meet a mortgage lender now and he/she will get you on the best/fastest path to A-paper financing with the best terms.

We are working on them now. as we both want our score as high as possable.
1 yr I am hoping if not 2yrs
We will be doing that through our re agent when we make our move to charlotte.
This thread gives the basics of what we are doing an hope to do.

I remember that post. You are on the right track and should do fine. Your agent will probably refer you to a lender. It is always wise to check with a reputable lender other than the agent referral.

Are you in the area? If so do you know of a short list? Maybe 5 total that you would recommend for us?
It really sucks being so unsure of everything. We are very much in need of insight on where to start. As we know noone in the area.
