Flood Insurance (limits, required, need, house)

I was looking at getting flood insurance with FEMA, and I am trying to find out if say a large storm came through and dumped a lot of rain and flooded the neighborhood would this be covered under flood insurance or homeowners?

If the rain causes flooding that is the policy that will cover damage. Homeowners does not cover flood damage. If the same storms winds cause damage then the wind storm will cover thier part and flood the flooding.Say the wid blows over a tree that falls on the house ;for example.

My friends in Galveston that had FEMA were the only ones that were able to rebuild and re-acquire items lost in the hurricane. Relatively speaking, FEMA's insurance money had them rebuilding quickly, too.

Be sure you understand the limits of a flood policy. It does not cover things like basements or if you are in Galveston, the area below a raised home to certain extents. It also has limits as far as raising the house, if that is required. Many folks in Shoracres, Seabrook, and the surrounding areas (Tx as a result of Ike) are having problems with that right now. Yes you will definitely need it if it floods.
