4 or 5 yrs ago I was standing on a sidewalk in front of a beer joint(I did that from time to time...kinda like an exit poller) and a guy pulled up on one of these.....It was noisy out there and I couldn't really hear the motor due to music blaring and other bikes revving up....I thought "Holy Crap that dude is riding that Indian like a complete moron out here among these drunken idiots, what's the matter with him"....A drunken buddy of mine said to the guy when he got off of it "How!" and threw the peace sign at the guy....the dude laughed and walked off and me and the special education reject walked up closer to put eye marks on this $50 g bike that he had just waddled off in the crowd and left to it's own devices.....upon closer inspection it turned out to be a $5,000 Kaw WTF!!!! Since I hadn't said anything at all before we realized what it was I was able to rag my buddy's ass about it real good, but it really had me fooled too.Cool as can be tho' for the $$$$.
My first was a Honda MB5 - 50cc about 5hp, and I had to sell my soul to the Devil to get it! I still get a funny movement in my groin when I think of the smell of 2stroke mixed with Old Spice and Texan plain on my Jeans jacket......
Back then you could only ride a "50" if you were 16, so everybody had similar petrol-to-noise converters. Now at least you can have a 125 at 16.

my first bike was a honda 350XL. it would do good on the back roads, and around the ranch in Idaho. my next was a basket case sportster, "chopper" it didnt have a title. so I sold it to somebody who had a title, needed a bike for it. whew, that was close. I really want a new sporty.
We had a little Yamaha that my brother and I rode on trails in the woods in the late 50's early 60's. In grad school I had a little 80 Suzuki.....it got me to class...

My very first bike was a Honda Trail 50 and was followed by this "monster" within the year.A Bridgestone BS 50.....That summer I was 6 yrs old(took off by standing beside the porch steps and would nearly fall over when I stopped every time) and I rode that Bridgestone from the midwest to California and back at least 100 times(in my mind) and never left an 8 acre area.
It's also kind of surprising what kind of guts they have. One of my sons has one now (a '75) and it'll scoot you down the highway at 60 mph with absolutely no problems. Amazing bikes.
