It takes place on a beach. And it has a scene were two guys are running a race on the beach and one is wearing hilarious purple spandex shorts. I think it is from the 80s. It appears to be a summer comedy or dramedy type movie. I forgot the title.
the BIG movie with guys running on a beach was of course "Chariots of Fire" from 1981.
By the middle of the next decade, there were several movies with a 'poke-fun-at' Chariots of Fire's famous beach scene. Can you narrow it down a little more for us? It may not even be a Chariots' spoof, but unlikely due to how famous Chariots was.
It was probably a comedy. The actor looked like Christopher Atkins. But I could be wrong.
