Have you ever seen a film with actor in it whom you really loved, and then they never made another movie?
Keely Smith was wonderful in "Thunder Road". I don't think she ever played a dramatic role after that.
Another singer, k. d. lang, was very good in "Salmonberries" but only appeared in a couple of other obscure films.
Phil Collins was an actor before he was a singer, and a very good one in "Buster" but I never saw him in anything else.
Anna Raj, the Polish girl Agnieska in "Cheaters". Dynamite performance, but never appeared in another picture. Just disappeared from the face of the earth.
A couple of Russian actresses that turned up in pictures released in the USA: Natalya Bondarchuk, "Solaris" and Natalya Glan, "Miss Mend". I'd sure love to have seen more of them. I think Bondarchuk went on to become a director.
I liked Karen Felber in the hand-held indie "Security, Colorado", and her name never appeared in any other credits.
Susan Traylor was wonderful in a small part in "Broken Vessels" then starred in the very interesting "Valerie Flake", then pretty well dropped off the radar screen, but has had some recent credits.
Definately an energetic actor. He was Pinto in Animal House, too, but nothing since that I've seen. I'd like to see Howard Stern (Private Parts) do another movie. Maybe a James Bond.
Ian McShane in Deadwood was brilliant if you can get past the profanity. He even started to play with it and I am sure it was ad-libbing and the director ran with it.
He was off screen after for some time but has started a comeback - The latest Pirates of Caribben.
Japanese actor Yusaku Matsuda, who played the memorable villain in 1989's "Black Rain" with Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia.
Poor guy would probably have been a popular international actor because he was so outstanding in that movie, but he died of cancer shortly thereafter. (Yes, he probably doesn't exactly fit what your thread title is asking because he's dead, sorry.)
The scene where he cuts part of his finger off on the order of the head Yakuza boss...
Ian McShane in Deadwood was brilliant if you can get past the profanity. He even started to play with it and I am sure it was ad-libbing and the director ran with it.

I love McShane. I don't know who his agent is, but the guy is in a ton of stuff -- it's just all crap. Deadwood will always be his master-work.
Lawrence Tierney...was in Reservoir Dogs and an episode of Seinfeld, then nothing. Earlier in his career he was in a lot of tough guy flicks and was a genuine badass right up until his death.
