That was the one movie I did not see but probably will eventually.

My top two picks to win are: The Artist or The Help (in that order)

I would pick "The Artist" for best film but best Actor should go to Gary Oldman in my opinion in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". I loved "The Help" too.

Best actress for me would probably be Michelle Williams in "My Week with Marilyn".

I have yet to see "War Horse" and "The Iron Lady". I really enjoyed "The Descendants" but it is not Oscar material IMO, despite all round excellent performance and a great script. "Hugo" was disappointing. Visually ravishing but a little shallow and lacklustre .

The POLL is now locked.

L.A. Times has a good photo pictorial and timeline on the OSCARs.

Gotta tell you that I hated two segments, so far.

First, they had Robert Downey Jr and a female on to give an award, the two launched into an insipid little skit that was annoying.

Then, they had Ben Stiller and a female on to give an award, they launched into a lame-assed skit that was so bad that they showed Jonah Hill (out in the audience) giving the "cut" motion to get on with it.

What irritates me so much is that they cut short the winners while stating their thank you's and other remarks, but are willing to waste time on this nonsense that was as bad as the crap on SNL these days.

Is it just me or is there an audio problem (like a feedback with the mics or something) with the Oscars show? I noticed it when Billy first appeared on stage and started talking.

The audio mixing was way off. The music was so much louder than the voices, you couldn't hear lyrics. Billy Crystal's opening music number was a total waste of time.

I had a hard time hearing what Morgan Freeman was saying in the very beginning, because they had background music playing that was too loud.

I was looking forward to this year's telecast more than anything because of Billy Crystal, but I think this was his worst AA effort.

I knew they would give it to that stupid silent movie that no one will go to. Classic academy decision. The Last Emporer LOL.

The classic academy decision is usually to give it to the most popular movie nominated. In other words there are more travesties of movies like Crash or Braveheart recently winning than Last Emperor.
