I found it a movie that didn't need the big screen, perhaps I would have preferred it in my pjs with a glass of wine at Home.
Might give it another try from reading thru the thread.
And thanks for the reminder miss H.
I will rent Blood Simple again.
The deserted highway murders in Fargo and Blood. Well done and nerve racking.

Well...I'm not so sure.
I rented it from Red Box a couple of weeks ago and while I'm a huge Coen Bros. fan, I didn't enjoy this one as much.
Positives:
- Fantastic soundtrack - wish we actually had more music
- Great depiction of snowy, 1961 New York
- Cinematically interesting - lighting, shadow, color etc.
- Oscar Isaac is very talented and forgive my shallowness, but I loved his dark hair
- OK, the cat...but...
Negatives:
- He hit one of the cats on the way home from Chicago - BAD - couldn't get that out of my head after and it made me feel bad
- He kept losing the cats - idiotic
- Dismal and depressing in his struggle
- With a voice like that, if a guy can't make it, then what chance do the rest of us have?
- I was waiting for a point the entire movie...it never really came...sure I can make a few generalizations, but overall, I didn't get the point of HIS story
STILL...I'm glad I watched it. I do think they're masterful film makers and we might never have seen Oscar Isaac. I hope we see more of him and of course, John Goodman is one of their faves as they use him frequently. Even though the acting was great, I still thought the old drug addict was depressing. And the other guy (Johnny?) going off with the cop? Good grief.
