RONIN was one of those movies that tried to be smart but never got around to actually being smart.
My favorite bit is early in the movie, DeNiro looks all tough and serious and says, "I never go into a place where I don't know the back way out."
And then he spends the rest of the movie going into places where he doesn't know the back way out. The screenwriter obviously came up with that great line, but then forgot to actually follow through with it.
What I'm noticing is almost all the movies mentioned in here are from the 1970's with a few from the 1980's. Is it just an old crowd commenting on this thread? Or are there no more recent and modern movies with great car chase scenes anymore?
Several people have mentioned Death Proof, which came out in 2007. I watched that movie because it was Tarantino...I usually don't watch action films. Of course the Bullitt chase is legendary because it was one of the first times you saw such a chase in movies.
