I so agree, excellent film, excellent roll.

Sean Connery in
Zardoz (1974)

(not quite his usual James Bond tux):

moderator cut: image removed

From the IMdB Trivia:
According to John Boorman, (the writer/director), Sean Connery found it incredibly difficult to get work when he abandoned the James Bond role a second time after Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

Robert Dinero as Fearless Leader in Rocky and Bullwinkle. It was intentionally silly but you gotta wonder if he was a fan of that or he wanted to make a film his grankids could see.

As for Kickass, that was much better than Nicolas Cage in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Joan Collins may be the sort who is beyond embarrassment, but if among her string of best forgotten performances there is one she would most like to forget, it would certainly be:

Very Convincing Special Effects...

I thought that Jack Palance and Martin Landau were at the bottom of their career when I saw "Without Warning" (1980). It taught me to never count out an actor, no matter how low he/she seems to have sunk. By the way, the movie became of special cult interest because it far predates "Predator", with the same actor playing the human-hunting alien: Kevin Peter Hall (also Harry of "Harry and the Hendersons" and the mutant bear in "Prophecy").

Shelley Winters, Glenn Ford, John Huston, Sam Peckinpah, Mel Ferrer in "The Visitor" (1979) ~ almost as bad as "Tentacles", which I saw in the theater because of the cast / I should have gone to "The Island of Dr. Moreau" starring Burt Lancaster!
The Visitor (1979) - IMDb

Basil Rathbone in "Hillbillys in a Haunted House" (1967) ~ In his next-to-last movie, he did have quite an unusual cast to mix with, including John Carradine, Lon Chaney Jr., Joi Lansing, Ferlin Husky, Merle Haggard, Molly Bee and Sonny James!

Remember Katharine Houghton, Kate Hepburn's niece who co-starred with her in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?"? Well, her follow-up film was the now-cultish "The Gardener" aka Garden of Death" (1974) starring Andy Warhol favorite Joe Dallesandro.

Stuart Whitman, Janet Leigh, Rory Calhoun and DeForest Kelley in "Night of the Lepus" (1972) ~ Also in the cast is "The Rifleman"'s Paul Fix.
Night of the Lepus (1972) - IMDb

Michael Caine and Sally Field in "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure" (1979)
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure (1979) - IMDb

Laurence Olivier, Robert Duvall and Katharine Ross in "The Betsy" (1978) ~ There are several upcoming actors in this, too, including Tommy Lee Jones; but I think Olivier had at least one truly embarrassing scene.
The Betsy (1978) - IMDb

More-recent films that made me embarrassed for the actors are: "Meet the Fockers" ~ Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand and Blythe Danner (She didn't fare as poorly.); "Stardust" ~ Robert De Niro again (a cross-dressing pirate?!); and a number of so-called comedies that made me wonder what Robin Williams (RIP), Dennis Quaid, and other actors thought they were doing. Honestly! It seems that a number of actors who became quite respectable and even award-winning threw their careers in the garbage! I suppose some were plain old moneymakers, but the movies definitely undermined their status.

I'm sure I can think of others. The Ray Milland/Rosey Grier one was a great choice! It was obvious that Oscar-winner Ray would take just about any role; he often said that "The Lost Weekend" was the peak of his career. Where could he go from there? His star turn in "Frogs" isn't nearly as terrible as the movie cited, but it's rather poor. At least it gave me another look at Sam Elliott following "Lifeguard"! WOW! Was he gorgeous! He's still easy on the eyes with a terrific voice.

There are some bizarre movies for actors and actresses; but, a number of these have received solid cult status. Examples are Ruth Hussey in "The Baby" (1973) and Dana Andrews in "The Frozen Dead" (1966).

NOTE: Kevin Bacon didn't return for "Tremors II: Aftershocks", only Fred Ward. Besides, it's a terrific sequel that meshes beautifully with the first film!

EDIT: Joan Collins actually has a history of terrible movies, including "I Don't Want to Be Born" aka "Sharon's Baby", "Homework" and "The Stud", which was based on sister Jackie Collins' lurid novel.

I would have to nominate the xxx-rated movie made by the founder/owner of Penthouse magazine, "Caligula". It certainly proved that money talks, since it starred Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, Helen Mirren, and John Gielgud.

There is a funny story (probably untrue) that, asked by a reported why he agreed to act in a pornographic movie, Mr. Gielgud replied "I did not notice any pornography on my paycheck".

One person cited The Empire of the Ants, which I had not heard of. It was probably made in response to the positive reception of one of my favorite old Horror films, "Them", likewise starring giant ants, and very well done indeed.

I disagree, Larry Linville was great as Frank Burns. The movie was much darker than the TV series and I found Donald Sutherland and Elliot Gould were much less likable than Alan Alda and Wayne Rogers. I actually felt sorry for Frank in the movie while on the TV show he was basically a buffoon.
