OK, I have not watched it in a long time so I don't remember a lot...

But what (if anything) does the place "SF Chinatown" have to do with the movie "Chinatown?"

It doesn't. The movie's set in Los Angeles. They have an area called "Chinatown" too.

Not a damn thing. There are Chinatowns all over, including NYC and DC. In the movie, Jake Gittes used to work in Chinatown in Los Angeles, and it's meant to imply a situation where it's not necessarily clear what's going on.

Thanks. I can accept this... I saw an ad, and I could not remember anything related to CT in this movie.

OK sorry, I mean't does this movie have anything to do with "Chinatown" (LA, SF or other).

The setting of the movie is Los Angeles. The denouement takes place in L.A.'s Chinatown.

IIRC, Gittes, the main character, used to be a cop in Chinatown and that's where he learned all the dirty dealings and crookedness that was going on.
