I guess there is no accounting for taste (and I'm not being critical in any way). I at first thought Quantum of Solace was just a bit below standard when I first saw it. But now that I've watched it a few times more, it is pretty good, but I think Casino Royale is the better of the two, if not the best in the franchise (competes with Goldfinger for sure).
^ In the franchise you are talking about 26 movies totally. CR is one of the best and the top 5 of all-time, but there are some others at the same level, like Live and Let Die, A View to a Kill, Golden Eyes, Skyfall, Gold Finger, etc.

The best thing about A View was that it had Christopher Walken. Golden Eye? That was waaaaaay over the top -- almost a live action comic book, chock packed with cheesiness.
Henry Cavil is the most logical successor by far. He was a front runner last time but they decided he was too young. He is British and maintains his conditioning at world class levels.
Can you play Superman and Bond? Has that been done before?
Armie Hammer would also make a good Bond.

I just want to say that Henry Cavill is a regular in our restaurant in South Florida and he is one of the sweetest people ever. He has a lovely family that he is with all the time (parents, brothers, their wives, nieces and nephews, etc).
On top of that, he is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen in my life.
