The master of relationship movies was Ingmar Bergman (if you're a pessimist, that is). You don't need a spaceship setting to depict two people stuck with each other, and to me, that was all the movie was. I was looking forward to a sci-fi movie with some speculative element other than human relation What-Ifs, so I was disappointed. The long spoiler-post above is spot-on! But I guess one shouldn't look for too much logic and just enjoy the ride. I'd hoped for at least some interesting development of the android, but he ended up being just a catalyst.
I hadn't read any reviews--still haven't--but maybe I will, now!

Well, if there were ever a glass half empty viewpoint.......
The android was terrific, as was the movie, at least compared to the rubbish we've come to expect in theaters today.
