Has anyone ever seen the movie "16 Blocks" with Bruce Willis and Mos Def? I had never even HEARD of the movie before but watched it last night on HBO or another premium channel. It was great! And Mos Def, someone that I've never heard of before, was excellent in his role. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend it.
I saw this in the line-up, and wondered what it was about. Can you share the storyline, please, Synopsis? Without, of course, spoiling the film -- something akin to what is on, say, a book jacket.
I'll just give you a synopsis (no pun intended with my name) off IMDB. It really is a good movie.
"Jack Mosley, a burnt-out, alcoholic detective (Bruce Willis), is assigned the unenviable task of transporting a fast-talking convict (Mod Def) from jail to a courthouse 16 blocks away. However, along the way he learns that the man is supposed to testify against Mosley's colleagues, and the entire NYPD wants him dead. Mosley must choose between loyalty to his colleagues and protecting the witness, and never has such a short distance seemed so long."
Bruce Willis is good, but Mos Def is the wildcard that makes this a great movie, imo. He's a fantastic actor.
I saw this about a year ago, I think on HBO, but maybe at the theatre. I really like Mos Def, great actor. If you get a chance catch him in "Something The Lord Made". IIRC it was a made for HBO movie with him and Alan Rickman (hmmm, kind of a six degrees thing-Alan Rickman, Bruce Willis).
When their introducing the doctors at Johns Hopkins pay attention to the names of the young doctors, a bit of authenticity.
I looked for 16 Blocks, synopsis, but I may have to wait for it to come back around.
