Vengeance (2022)

Interesting story starring (and I think directed) by BJ Novak (Ryan from 'the Office').
A podcaster travels to rural Texas to (ultimately) understand the death (& culture) of a girl he had hooked up with while she was in NYC.
An entertaining commentary on culture divides, and the callousness of our social media culture.

Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs

eh.......Actually, rather painful to watch. Almost all of it silliness, the addition of an idiot comedy duo didn't help, Price talking a lot to the camera and breaking the 4th wall, and rather very short on babes except for appearances of the chorus line. About a 3.0.

It seems to be that if one is going to do a spoof spy flick, the spy chief needs to be the straight man but this flick doesn't know that.

The last three nights I've watched three movies with similar themes.

"Who Invited Them?" "Speak No Evil" and "Apology."

All three involved people who couldn't or wouldn't practice good boundaries with others and the consequences for that. All three held my interest and are graded in the order that I listed them.

The first is frustrating and a bit predictable, the second also had moments of frustration and confusion with a good dose of inevitable horror. The last is thoughtful and downright painful.

I wouldn't watch any of them twice.

So tonight a little known, excellent and unusual twist on vampiric creatures directed by a woman and set in the modern day west. With Bill Paxton! "Near Dark."

Dog Gone (2023) on Netflix. Not a movie where a lot happens but a sweet story with a happy ending, suitable for kids as well. I liked the dynamic between the kid and his dad.

We went to see A Man Called Otto last week and it was sold out so we saw The Whale instead. Probably a movie I wouldn't have gone to see but we really liked it. Also went back and saw A Man Called Otto this week and we enjoyed it too. One couple did walk out in the middle of the movie - not sure why.

A nice classical mystery to sit back and just enjoy.......even if the pathology goofs are massive. A 6.7.
