I couldn't see Annihilation last weekend and in my town it's already down to a single theater, one showing a day...at 10:00 pm!

The critics seemed to like Annihilation more than audiences which gave mixed reviews; unless a movie is a blockbuster it doesn't get much of a chance these days...

Annihilation isn't a straightforward movie, hence the mixed reviews from the audiences. It's unfortunate, because the film is very thought-provoking. Do try hard to catch it in the theater before it leaves your town; it deserves to be seen on a big screen.

Try to find a "Second Run" theater. One that shows the older A-List, and newer B-List titles.
Usually it's an older theater, with only mild renovations, not kept up with the stadium seating and the power lounge chairs chain theaters. It may show up there.

It's a shame that the theater industry seems to be self-destructing. The overall business models have changed so much that the movie producers get more money in overseas, marketing, toys, DVD/BluRay sales than in the initial viewing ticket sales. So they have shortened and shortened the first run duration.

Yup. I'll be very surprised if movie theaters still exist fifteen years from now.

THere is a DVD bootleg that is sponsored by Netflix. I believe Netflix bought the rights.

It was an amazing movie.

Netflix owns the foreign rights. Why would they bootleg content they own?

The studio is only releasing the film in the US, Canada and China. Everywhere else in the world will see it on Netflix. Too bad, it's a good big-screen-worthy movie.
