Last night, on cable, I saw two really terrific movies, back to back, that I want to tell everyone to watch. They were "My Winnipeg" and "Leonina".
Maybe we can use this thread to rush out and sing our praises of a movie we just discovered. You don't have to tell us anything about it, we can look it up on IMDB. Just rave about how great it was.
My cousin had seen a trailer a couple months ago while out at the movies (not sure what movie he had gone to see) and found the DVD of it last week. When he handed it to me, I wasn't sure I wanted to bother, but boy am I glad I did! It's a Disney/Pixar feature called "Up" and is simply a hoot and a half. I had been sick all week and finished watching this DVD in such a good mood that I simply forgot I was sick!

We just watched "Last Chance Harvey"; Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. I don't recall it having very good reviews but I love Emma Thompson (very easy on the eyes and a great actress) so I'd been looking forward to a poor weather day. We both really liked it.

I second Babel; I didn't think too much about the movie til one day I saw it on TV and decided to watch. Very impressive.
I need to correct my OP. The movie erroneously titled "Leonina" should be "Leonera", an Argentine picture that will make you ashamed of the US film industry, and ask 'Why can't we do that?' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1022606/. (The English working title is "Lion's Den")
Another great movie I saw in the past week was "Worlds Apart", a Danish movie ("To Verdener") that I'm recommending to everyone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1065318/
