Well, this is a pretty dang good voice, right here:
If I live to be seven million years old, I won't get Sinatra. I used to work at a retirement home and, let me tell you, it takes a lot of Sinatra to satisfy a legion of octogenarians. Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Jim Reeves... not to say they don't have good voices, just totally not my cup of tea.
Yes, I like Sam Cooke, too.
Some of my other choices would be:
Nat King Cole
Johnny Mathis
Bing Crosby
Elvis
Roy Orbison
Nick Woods (baritone from the New Christy Minstrels)
Connie Francis
Doris Day
Judy Garland
Patti Page
Gayle Caldwell (soprano from the New Christy Minstrels)
Della Reese
Lena Horne
she did that! this woman could blow. i miss her voice.
I saw that video about a year ago, and it amazed me how comfortable she was singing that song. That is a HARD song to sing well, and for her it was effortless. It tears me up that that voice is gone now. She had so much talent.
