Frankly I didnt notice she messed up the lyrics and by judging from the crowd I dont think the people noticed either.
Is it just morning chatter or did she ruin her career?
Then you've either slept through the rendition or you had gone to get a snack. The part that got flubbed is supposed to begin with, "O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming." We knew this when we were kids!
I love Christina like anyone else, but there is simply no excuse for any professional singer to mess up the most sacred piece of lyric in American history. As for Christina's career, she certainly didn't help it.
Well, at least she didn't grab her crotch and spit on the ground a la Roseanne Barr. Singing unaccompanied in front of a hundred thousand people who may or may not be fans would be unnerving to most entertainers, especially when they're concentrating more on their technical performance than the lyrics. To me this seemed to be the root of Christina's problem.
Anybody (all of us) can screw up at any given moment. Some just do it in front of more people. And in that spirit, I give you my favorite anthem gone wrong - and there have been a few of them!
I knew she messed up as soon as I heard it but I didn't think it was a huge tragedy like they're trying to make it out to be
Agreed. And she has one helluva voice.
