It Americana. It's a style that borders country, folk, bluegrass and rock but doesn't fit in any of those.

This is why I do not approve of songs being used in tv shows and commercials. Then jabronies hear the song and ask about it. Frankly there are some songs the average person does not deserve to hear.

Having songs on shows and in commercials is very lucrative for the artist. If broadcast radio didn't suck so bad in most cities musicians would have that traditional avenue for exposure. I still find a new artist from time to time due to TV.

Isn't music meant to be heard? I've never understood the elitist "I don't listen to anything that is well-known" attitude towards music. If I like a song, it doesn't matter to me how many people like it.
