Phew, I grew up in Puerto Rico, where Spanish is the main language, and I listened to tons of music in english, so growing up almost every lyric was a "misheard" lyric:
One of the worst was "We built this city" by Starship....my lord I used to love that song when I was a kid...there's a line that goes:
"Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night
Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll"
So I thought it said:
Knee deep in the jungla (PS: I thought it was Spanish), sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night
My honey plays La Bamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll
And then there was Styx Mr. Roboto,
The song goes:
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Mata au hi made
I would sing:
Tomo a mi gato, Mr. Lobato....and some other Spanglish crap....
In all honesty I think everyone would sing those lines differently!
My mom thought the song "You're So Vain" was "You're So Strange".
