From Rock of the Westies, a couple of odd topics. "Island Girl", about a Jamaican prostitute in New York ("down where Lexington cross 47th Street") and the man who wants to take her back to her home island.

Also, "Billy Bones and the White Bird", about an old ship.

And "Dan Dare (Pilot of the Future)", about a British astronaut/comic strip character.

Just made a decision today. Never thought I'd get here, but here I am. I realize that I really do WANT to be an old fart and live in the past. I pretty much hate the present. I have bought a house built in '72, so I think I'll just listen to '70's music, wear '70's style clothes, and eat '70's fondue from here on out. They can bury me in about 20 or 30 more years in my bell bottoms and prairie blouse. Maybe it's Glenn Frey's passing, I don't know. But it sure has reminded me how much better, in my lifetime, things used to be.

I'll just go down doing The Hollywood Waltz.

You might want to forego the 1970s cars, like the Vega, Pinto and Pacer.

Kansas, like Rush, recorded a lot of songs about things other than relationships. Examples:

"Portrait (He Knew)", about Albert Einstein (and later adapted by Kerry Livgren to be about Jesus Christ).

"Sparks of the Tempest", refers to an Orwellian society.

Finally, the title track to the album from which the others came, "Point of Know Return". It addresses the dangers of early sea travel and the knowledge that one may not return.

Speaking of Orwell, the songs on this Who Album were based on his book "Animal Farm" written about events leading up to the 1917 Russian Revolution https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Farm.

Particularly this song.
