Love the Alan Parsons Project -- definitely in my top 5 bands ever. Saw them in 2008 and it was a great show. 8 years have rolled by and they are on tour again and within driving distance for me. So I look up the cost of the tickets and find that the cost has roughly TRIPLED since the last time I saw them. What in the name of Elvis is going on around here? I decide to take a pass on seeing Mr Parsons.

Supply and demand is going on around here.

The Alan Parsons Project saw its heydey between the mid-1970s and the mid-1980s. Thus, the bulk of its fans are now between the ages of 50 and 65. They have lots of disposable income.

Speaking of Alan Parsons, someone needs to update the Wikipedia page on these guys.

It shows the last studio lp as Gaudi, released in 1987. Some of their releases over the last 10 to 15 years are among my personal favorites, including "On Air", "A Valid Path," "Time Machine.' "Try Anything Once.' and "Live In Columbia."

In their early days, they never toured. One of the radio interview lp's I remember (Nightbird and Co.) had the reason being that different musicians played on their early lp's. In fact, if you listen to Gaudi,, pick up the lead vocals by guest vocalist Gary Brooker of Procol Harum! I love Procol, always have. On their first lp (Tales of Mystery and Imagination) Arthur Brown does lead vocals on a few songs. Arthur Brown came on the rock scene in 1968 with his classic song "Fire." He still records, though none of his recordings these days are avaialble as U.S. pressings. And of course, you have Eric Woolfson, who sadly passed away a few years ago.

Finally, around 1990 or so, they started to tour. God, they were great! Saw them in Denver in 1990. And in the believe it or not dept., they played at the Avalon Theater in Grand Junction, Colorado. IIRC it was 2007. They said during their set that they had never been to this part of the States, but loved it. And they played a great set!

Just looked at Parsons site, clicked on Ticket Network. Not familiar with them. Are they a major retailer? A small ticket broker?

Looked at the cheap seat prices for the three Texas shows.

11/17---Austin-starts at $100

11/18-Dallas-starts at $62

11/19--Houston-starts at $248---------(yikes!)

More power to 'em.

Hard to make a buck these days in music with YT, Spotify and other sites not paying full royalties, plus all the continued pirating. For most bands, almost all their revenues and profits come from touring.
