"The Dixie Dregs were active from the early 1970s to the early '80s, releasing several albums on Capricorn Records (The Allman Brothers Band's label) and Arista Records, gaining six Grammy nominations and building a large following through their energetic live shows. Ultimately, what kept them from "rock star" status was also what made them unique -- they played strictly instrumental rock music."
Somewhere, I have a Test Pressing for their Great Spectacular album that I got from the college radio station. When I heard about the tour, I started looking for it, but can't find it (yet). It's only been 30+ years and a few moves, so I don't know why I can't find it!
I'm envious of anyone who got to see the shows. I had a health challenge pop up right then and had to stay close to home for surgery that took weeks to schedule.
Just looked at stevemorse.com and he's got no tours scheduled, not even Purple.
