I didn't know those songs, but now, after listening to them, I think Scott McKenzie's song is the "inspiration" for a Brazilian song called "Aventureiro Garimpeiro" by Roberto Villar

A 1960 American rock cover barely hit the top 100 -- What Should a Teen Heart Do

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gukcpTenJ6U

It was a cover of Lakutshn ilaga, from Miriam Makeba's first album of African music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d99wc8LGDpw

But the Mekeba song has a disstincle western "feel", maybe itself covered from some other obscure source. The Coniff song was released ubder the soloist's name, but I can't remember his name. Coniff later bought the rights to aggregate it.
