I can see why OP is making the claim that they are. Metal seems to trend more to the right with songs that tend to deal more with realistic themes, even if they can be morbid.

Now Punk trends to the left ,with their views of anarchy and "sticking it to the man".

Modern "Pop" died in the 90's when Grunge/Alt rock killed it. It was replaced by hip hop. God help us all.
If any musical genre claim on "right wing" audience, it's country -- though even that is in flux as Nashville starts to fall under the spell of the authoritarian virtue crowd like the rest of the entertainment industry.

IMO metal is mostly just apolitical / non-partisan. But as I mentioned upthread, the OP is from Italy so maybe the genre is more intricately tied to an ideology there than it is here.

Southern Rock and Christian Rock also in that same mold. Today's country music would be considered just left of center by 1980s standards IMO, where you were pretty clearly "redneck" by being adverse to MTV since the closest it got to "country" was John Cougar Mellenamp. Right-leaning African-Americans tend to prefer religious music that's basically a modern day version of soul, just like how today's country sounds like a modern version of classic rock. By conforming to social traditions in the musical sound, it isn't too surprisingly that listeners of those genres tend to be Republican-leaning.

In the 1970s/80s there was a lot of right-wing media lampooning on how metal had a negative impact on society, and you could have replaced the thread title with "left" in those decades had C-D been around then.

I've never been to Italy, but I'd bet conservative Italians would rather listen to the sound of an accordion over that of a ProTools mixer.

right wingers are metal, classic rock, and bro country. I myself am a political dissident moderate, and troubled my alternative punk rock heroes blindly follow the leftist socialist narrative. I tend to agree politically with a lot of metalheads. Chuck Prophet and Robyn Hitchcock still are friendly with me, but the REM boys are want nothing to do with me anymore.
