Sources are either my MP3 files or streaming via YouTube, Mixcloud, Certain internet radio stations or ministries
Usually play the sources through my Android phone or HP I7 laptop.
I either do cable connection or Bluetooth to the home system or headphones.
I still have a turntable, mixer, and a cassette deck and have digitized most of the music I have.
My main receiver unit for the house is a 30 yr old Pioneer system which still works great. Cable it with a Bluetooth receiver and I am good to go around the house.

I have early 2000 Altec Lansing speakers & subwoofer ($30) connected to the Pioneer. Like yours - mine still sounds great also. I put the subwoofer inside of the wood TV credenza to increase the bass.
I have a car with a really nice Boss sound system.
This is the best possible way I can enjoy music.
So every now and then I just go out for a drive and listen to music. I travel occasionally to cities that are about 3/4 hours away, and that’s when I listen to new bands and new records.
I also listen on my Iphone with Spotify, and I have a nice Vizio TV speaker that I can also listen either using bluetooth or casting it directly to the TV using the Spotify app.

Mostly Sirius XM in the cars, at home Sirius streaming from the phone and bluetooth to our stereo system, which has capability for CD, cassette and vinyl. We still have vinyl and CDs but no cassettes, and somewhere in a closet a box of 8 track tapes.
I use my cell phone as a music player in the car and when and doing outside activities such as jogging/running; I use ear clips, not ear buds, because I don't like having something directly in my ears.
At home I use my laptop. The sound on it is really, really bad, and mostly too quiet, so I bought an onn. Mini Rugged Bluetooth Speaker for $10. I love that thing. It has a surprisingly warm sound (no echoing effect) with good bass for the small use case (sound from a laptop) that it is for, and any distance within about 20 feet or so isn't a problem for the Bluetooth connection.
Gets signals from Santa Barbara to Ensenada, unless it's Sunday evening. (Then, I can get Salt Lake City, and the Denver Bronco Home station. John Elway show.)
Kenwood and Technics receivers from the 70s. AR3 speakers. Interfaced with OPPO BDP-105 media player.
