As we know, prog rock keyboard god Keith Emerson is no longer of this Earth.
After the Emerson, Lake & [Cozy] Powell album & tour, Keith and (singer-bassist) Greg Lake parted ways again. In turn, Keith and original ELP drummer Carl Palmer (who had been enjoying nice paychecks with Asia for years) gave it another go, without Greg.
The "#3" in the trio — which ended up being the band's name, believe it or not — was Bay Area singer-bassist Robert Berry.
The album was called To the Power of Three, and its sound is very '80s, very AOR, yet it retains that ELP "sound" thanks to Keith.
Here's the little-seen video for the opening track, "Talkin' Bout" — the only time you'll see a video with these guys that features some hot chicks.
I vaguely remember that one, some airplay on a SoCal station in 88 or so. You are right, it's got that ELP sound, with a bit of late 80s AOR thrown in.
