Motorhead is strange, I can see why the metalheads like them, but I can also see why the punks dig them, they really have one of the most crossover appeals.

What say you???

Very unique band. I went to see them in 82 or so but it was sold out. Outside there were Punks (I was one) and long hairs, we all got along. Something about that band brought us together.

Couldn't agree more! Lemmy is awesome. I've seen them live more than a few times, and everytime there would be tons of bikers mixed with gutter punks. And of course tons of metalheads too hehe.
All there for the love of motorhead.
DRI is another band, that also has that crossover effect, but they still got nothing on motorhead.

Motorhead is in a class of it's own. Lemmy kicks arse. I would love to just sit and chat with that guy.

Here's an obscure one:

Motorhead fan here since 1980.
Lemmy fascinates me--who would guess that he's practically an expert on Tolkien?

I remember a quote by someone in the band that went something like "If Motorhead moved in next door to you, your lawn would die."

Gnarly, wicked, lightning fast (wit and music), and dirty.

Love 'em.

I don't see MOTORHEAD as a strange band at all, in fact they are the opposite, just the best straight-ahead, dirty, heavy boogie band of all time!

I think a lot of the appeal to the punks (at least earlier ones) is the combination of honesty, attitude and basic 3 chord rock that the band statred out with.

They were one of the first bands, as well as the MC5, that bridged punk and heavy rock fans. Later, around 79-81, lots of the fans of the NWOBHM, esp IRON MAIDEN, were also converted punks.

Even though they never made it to mega-stardom, I consider them one of the most important bands in rock's history. Certainly one of a kind and never to be repeated.
