Hi Everyone,
I'm retired and considering a condo in the Grand Strand area. I would appreciate any advice at all but mainly I'm posting because I have three beautiful indoor kitties and I want to make sure that they won't be a problem. Has anyone had issues with HOA'S over their pets? Thank you in advance for any replies.

Get a copy of the HOA restrictions and regulations before you even think of moving. Evey condo association has them printed and available for reading.

Don't depend on city- data. This is something you have to deal with association by association. Don't depend on a real estate agent for accurate information. You need to see those regulations in print form in front of you and read them yourself. If they don't make sense, they you have to contact the association and have them made clear to you.

Some complexes may have a website and on that website you might be able to find their regulations/rules.
Make sure they are up to date. Most complexes will have some sort of pet restriction. It might be by type of pet, number of pets, etc. You'll just have to search it out.

Good luck

You will find most likely as we did that the lower area of Myrtle Beach ( Surfside, Garden City) have less restrictions on pets.
Some HOAs do restrict how many pets you can have. Make sure to read the paperwork as that fact can change and the realtor doesn't know it.
Condos seem to have more pet rules then buying into a development.
I'd be sure to ask the realtor to know the condo is pet friendly before taking you there and later have you be disappointed.
