Very confusing.
The county site says New Year's Day will have regular pick up.
The Naples site says no, but says pick up will be the following day but when I checked for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day said there would be no reschedule, and there wasn't.

Sorry I can't really help you out but in case anyone else is wondering Waste Mgmt is contracted for the county and they will be picking up as scheduled.

Who knows what the City of Naples is doing. They've always marched to the beat of their own drum so to speak.

It really depends where you live. Do you live in the City of Naples or do you live in Collier County? I am in the City and the pick ups were exactly as listed on the website. We also got a flier in our door with the Holiday schedule.

Not in the city but the city website is usually more right then the county one...but only, usually, not always. LOL
For New Year's Day say, the county site had it correct but for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Naples schedule was followed.
It leaves us guessing
Once a week is ordinarily no problem as far as quantity except there
is usually more of it in holiday weeks and it can get smelly but has to be kept indoors until the morning of pickup because of bears.

It IS confusing when the county lists specific holidays but not others for no garbage pickups, and at least here in Charlotte County, I've seen where they didn't pick up trash on holidays not on their list, but sometimes they do. They've listed Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas for no pickup, so we know to wait one day to put out the trash on those days, but it's anyone's guess on the other holidays (like Memorial Day, New Year's Day, and as they had on the list in Miami, Martin Luther King's Day). We've solved the problem, as I see it, by putting the garbage out on the assigned days on those other holidays, and if it's collected, great, we drag the cans back in. If it's not collected, we figure it will be the next day.

The only problem with this is, if cans are outside with garbage in them, too often the bears decide that it's their invitation to a midnight snack.
That's messy but also costly if you brought them inside the lanai.
For the major holidays that fall on Thursday, next pickup isn't until Monday.

Wow, I could see where that is a problem! You wouldn't want your garbage out even one extra night if the possibility of the cans being broken into by bears is there, and four days? I've never seen a bear around here ( more like bobcats and I've heard, wild boar, but I've never seen either of those here), but there's no way I'd leave garbage out for that long!
